Toker Doganoglu is Professor of Economics at the University of Würzburg. Previously, he was an Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Southern Denmark at Odense, a visiting professor at Sabanci Univesity, Turkey, and led a junior research group funded by Volkswagen Foundation first at University of Kiel and then in University of Munich. He studied electrical engineering at the Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey, and continued his graduate studies at the State University of New York at Stony Brook in the USA. He received a Ph.D. degree in Economics in 1998 from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. He also completed his habilitation in 2007 in University of Kiel.

Doganoglu’s research focuses on a variety of topics in Industrial Organization. He has worked on economics of industries where network effects and switching costs play an important role. In particular, he has contributed to the literature on platform markets. He also is interested in more traditional topics in competition policy. Another strand of Doganoglu’s research is empirical in nature, and deals with structural estimation of demand and costs, and measuring causal effects of firm policies on profits and welfare.

He has published his research output in journals such as International Journal of Industrial Organization, Quantitative Marketing and Economics, Information Economics and Policy, Computational Economics, Computational Statistics, Review of Network Economics, The Manchester School and the Review of Industrial Organization .

He is a member of the Committee for Industrial Economics of the Verein für Socialpolitik.
